A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by William Shakespeare was written around 1594 to 1596. The romantic comedy is one of Shakespeare‘s most popular plays and it’s performed widely across the world.
The main characters are:
· Lysander: beloved of Hermia
· Hermia: beloved of Lysander
· Helena: in love with Demetrius
· Demetrius in love with Hermia
· Oberon: King of Fairies
· Puck: servant to Oberon
The main plot is about the two couples Hermia & Lysander and Helena & Demetrius whose relationships are very confusing and complicated, because not all of them love who they’re supposed to love. It doesn’t become easier for them when they enter the forest in which Oberon is the king and Puck, his servant, plays tricks on them. While all that happens, in the subplot, Snug, Snout, Quince and Flute try to prepare the play „Pyramus & Thisbe“ for the king Theseus. In the end, the couples find their right partner. The topic is triumphing love.
